A New Member of the Family!

So, I haven’t been taking many pictures on my Nikon the past couple weeks; I’ve been all over the place, and also, it’s getting a bit chilly! (As you can tell from my last post) I was in Florida for Thanksgiving which was glorious, but the transition back to chilly Boston was less than awesome. But yea, I plan on getting out there soon to take pictures of the first little bit of winter. Harvard Square is all fancified with pretty lights. I can’t wait for a dusting of snow to really set the scene…

Anyway, My grandfather is/used to be an excellent photographer; all film, of course. But we have many of his pictures hanging in our house. On this trip to Florida, he said he had viewed my blog (hurray!) and had something for me! It was an old Rolliflex that looked pretty much like this:

(Photo snagged from: here)

So needless to say, I was stoked. We messed around with it for a bit, and found that unfortunately, the shutter is stuck closed. We worked at it, but there was little we could do. I brought it home and I plan on bringing it into a camera store with my fingers crossed and hopefully they’ll be able to help. Either way, it’s a pretty cool gift. :]

That’s all for now!

I’ve been waiting so long for it to be done, and FINALLY, it is. :] I’m overjoyed.

The following pictures were taken on my 35mm Nikon SLR all over Italy: Rome, Florence, Venice, Garda, Verona…

Some of them aren’t top notch because 1) my camera’s shutter is very temperamental and 2) I am still a film noob. :]

Hope you enjoy! Feedback, as always, is welcome!

*I should mention, these are not scanned prints. They were taken directly from the film and burned onto a CD. Therefore, the touch ups that I could have made in printing weren’t made. I did adjust the contrast in a few, but these photos are overall pretty raw… minimal editing. Enjoy!*

Big News!

After the black and white film processing shop in my hometown closed down, I was stuck. I had no idea where to get my b&w film processed. I couldn’t bring it in to Walgreens or Wal-Mart; they botch the job because their machines are made for color film. Thankfully, Boston has more options. I did some research, found a place and brought it in. They had to send it out so there was about a week of delay. BUT FINALLY, they called me yesterday and said it’s ready. And I can get the prints onto a CD so I don’t have to mess with my good-for-nothing scanner. So in conclusion, my prints from Italy should be up within the next few days. Maybe even tomorrow! I can’t wait to see them. There’s a chance that I’ll be bummed out because my camera’s shutter is broken and sometimes get stuck… but I’m keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best!

And as for digital Italy pictures: they really are coming. I just have SO MANY that I need to sort through. I only really want to put up the good ones, so it requires a lot of organization.
